Frequently asked questions
What channel shows Africa Cup of Nations?
No broadcaster is confirmed for Africa Cup of Nations in the United States so far. The table above lists the countries where one is known.
Which clubs play in Africa Cup of Nations this season?
24 clubs are taking part: South Africa, Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Benin, Cameroon, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, Congo DR, Sudan, Senegal, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Egypt.
The Africa Cup of Nations is the African continental championship, and the tournament that empties European clubs in midwinter: every edition, dozens of Premier League, Ligue 1 and Serie A regulars leave for three or four weeks in January, and their clubs play without them. Founded in 1957 with three entrants, it now gathers twenty-four. Egypt hold the record with seven titles, ahead of Cameroon and Ghana. The tournament's peculiarity is that no favourite ever holds: Senegal waited until 2021 for a first title, Algeria and Zambia won where nobody expected them, and South Africa were crowned at home three years after returning to international competition. The atmosphere is that of tournaments where the crowd travels little but sings enormously. For a European viewer most matches fall in the late afternoon or early evening, on central European time or an hour before.
