The Coupe de la Ligue no longer exists: the French professional league scrapped it after the 2019-2020 edition, whose final was played on 31 July 2020, pushed back by the pandemic. This page remains for its archive. Created in 1994, the competition brought together France's professional clubs in single-match knockout rounds, with the European sides entering late. For a long time it was the most attainable trophy on the French calendar: for many clubs it was the only national final they could realistically reach, and for the big ones another line on the honours list. Paris Saint-Germain are its most successful club. It disappeared because of a calendar that had grown too crowded and revenues judged insufficient.
